About the Author
Clive Marsh is Secretary of the Faith and Order Committee and a Local Preacher in the Methodist Church in Britain. He is professionally involved in theological education in church and university settings.
Steve Moyise is Visiting Professor at Newman University, UK and author of The Old Testament in the Book of Revelation (Sheffield, 1995) and The Old Testament in the New (Continuum, 2001). He is the series editor of The T&T Clark Approaches to Biblical Studies.

Dont buy it if you are not a serious scholar or theologian

As there's no table of content here on Amazon, I would like to take the priviledge to type it for you as below:-

6. Apocryphal Gospels
7. The quest for the historical Jesus
8. Jesus: prophet of the coming kingdom
9. Jesus: teacher and sage
10. Political and ethical interpretations of Jesus
11. Jesus in art, media and culture
12. How Christology works: the Gospels in practice
Actually, as an average Christian, I wonder whether I am qualified to judge this book at all. Let me show you the questions in chapter 8 (there are 3 questions in the end of each chapter),
Q1. What is meant by saying that Jesus was an eschatological figure?
Q2. What was it that Jesus expected to happen soon?
Q3. Is it possible to interpret Mark 12:24-7 as describing the destruction of Jerusalem?
Nevertheless, as a book lover, I deem the writing dull and dry. A safe advice would be: for serious scholars only.

Excellent orientation on Jesus in the Gospels and Christ for today.

As a student of the Bible, I have benefited from the presentation Marsh and Moyise offer of the Jesus made known in each of the four New Testament gospels, as well as in lesser known gospels not accepted as part of the Bible. Their simultaneous engagement with contemporary scholarship on Jesus as a prophet, as a "word-spinner," as a political liberator engaged with the poor and with women as well, as a spiritual and ethical guide, and as the Christ of Faith provides a deeper sense of both who Jesus was and how we may understand him today.
